I have three Safavieh rugs, including another dhurrie. All are excellent. This rug arrived very quickly, laid flat from the get-go, and had no smell whatsoever. A dhurrie is a flat, thinner, scratchy wool rug. Don't buy this expecting a soft cushy surface. If you are the market for that, try a pile rug. A dhurrie like this one is great for kitchen or dining room area where it's anchored by furniture and may get some crumbs because you can easily spot clean and sweep it off if you don't want to drag out the vacuum. Having said that, this particular dhurrie looks more rustic than I was expecting - exactly like the picture, but I think it's the combo of color and texture that makes it appear more rustic in person. My other dhurrie, by comparison, is black and white and doesn't appear rustic to me. On this rug, the light color is dark cream or light beige, so I expect that it will wear well and not show black/brown on the edges as some light rugs have done in the past. Last, this rug is very slippery - easily slides around or bunches up with dogs/kids running over it. That's annoying. I'm sure a rug pad would solve that, but I don't like using rug pads and am uncertain whether they are ok for my Pergo laminate floors. Thus, I wouldn't recommend this for the bottom of the stairs or in the middle of a room bc it would either be hazardous or a source of annoyance from constantly straightening it.
